A pair of tab top curtains were the first thing made on my new machine. These are for my little grandson Bryce. You can't see on here, but the top stitching is little cars.

Another block ,SKOW.

Only a couple of blocks to do on this one ,Pumpkin Patch, this BOM finishes in May.

Two hand towels and a kindle cover ,they are now winging their way to my daughter.

One Christmas Item

This month I went for something simple and quick.Snow people for my grandchildren.
Very easy, made a pattern with a bit of scrap card, fold card in half cut a half snowman ,open out easy symmetrical shape.

I have two grandchildren,Jayda and Bryce,so two snow people, one blue one pink.
I decided to put a small pocket on the back, just big enough for a few pennies or a sweetie.

We are having another grandy soon,so two blue ons..

I really enjoyed making these, may try Santa for next month.

A few friends have requested them,so I may be making a few more before the end of the year.

All for now Laura xx

Happy St George's Day

There'll always be an England
While there's a country lane.
Wherever there's a cottage small
Beside a field of grain.
There'll always be an England
While there's a busy street.
Wherever there's a turning wheel
A million marching feet.
Red white and blue
What does it mean to you,
Surely you're proud
Shout it out loud
Britons awake.
The  Empire  too
We can depend on you,
Freedom remains
These are the chains
Nothing can break.
There'll always be an England
And England shall be free,
If England means as much to you
As England means to me.

It's a glorious warm sunny day in my small part of England. We had a lovely couple of hours in the park with Lilly.
Will post a few picks later.
for now

Happy Saint George's Day.

New machine

So I went to pick up my machine on Friday and it was not back from the engineer.I couldn't believe it. Apparently he has been so busy he didn't have time to service some of the machines,of course mine was one of those.I thought I was going to faint.I can't get it back till next weekend now.
But all is not lost....Ive Been thinking of having a new machine for a while my Brother is a great machine,it sews great and is an embroidery machine. However,it does not like FMQ.
So,while I was in the shop about to pass out cold,Bri said have a look around. So I did.I really loved the Husquvarna, and it has a FMQ setting,My lovely Brian said ,if you want it I will buy it for you.....well he didn't have to say that twice.
Well that was a rigmarole,we bought the machine ,got home,I was very excited.I make coffee while Bri takes it out the box.....wrong machine ...another trip to the shop(all I want to do is sew) .
After another trip to the shop I finally at 7pm have a sewing machine.
Here she is.Its not a good photo,I took it with my Ipad.

Plenty of catching up to do.

Happy Wednesday

I have a new grandchild on the way,due end of June.

The scan says a boy,  I. hope it is ,as this is what I bought.
I plan to cut it into squares,I don't  want to cut it too much because I really like the novelty print.

This little pile of felt is what I'm using for my "1 Christmas item a month." I have actually finished the make, but can't show yet.I did post a pic on facebook, and some of my pals want me to make some for them..mmm will have to think about it.

Only 1 day left and I get my sewing machine back, woohoo.
Have a good day all,love from me.x

A couple of finishes.

Finished tis the season quilt before the machine went to be serviced.

The American Beauty is now finished.
I quilted it myself with a random squiggle, that's all I can do haha.Decided that its the first and last large quilt I will attempt to quilt.
The next one is definately going to the long arm quilter, very expensive but worth it for a good finish.

I chose this pink leaf spray fabric for the back.I will make pillow cases when my machine comes back.
Having withdrawal symptoms...won't be home untill next Thursday,I may go mad.....

Another block of Summertime,number 6.

Oh,this is the label I made for the back of the quilt,my photos have got out of order.
Plain label, just name and date.I don't know why I Diddnt do this before.I had labels made but wasn't really happy with them.It was hubby who said. Make them on that fancy machine of yours....so I did...oh I do miss my machine.

I o have a small machine,but I just can't get on with it.
Tonight I have been making something for the 1Christmas Item  a month group, can't reveal yet, have to wait untill 25 th.
All for now ,have a great weekend.xx

Lovely weekend,bright and sunny.

Not much done in the way of sewing, have the grandys here.
Started to quilt the large quilt, and my machine just stopped dead.B has oiled it so I'm hoping,it will be OK.Its a Brother Super Galaxie 3000 embroidery machine, and it really doesn't like FMQ.
I finished this block during the week.

This is no 5,still loving these.
The weather(keep fingers crossed)  is finally on the turn ,we hope. The last 2days have been glorious.
Bright sunny and ever so slightly warmer.B has put the motorbikes on the rd,so he's hoping for better weather.(he stores them in the winter months because of the salt on the rds)he has gone to a bike rally today, first ride of the season.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

A flimsy

At last, after 12 months on this BOM the American Beauty quilt top is complete.
Now to think about putting it together.I am not sure l will be able to quilt it myself as its very large.
I will have a go though.
I have draped it over B's motorbike, that you can see is about half.

Very happy with it, that will be one BOM down, two to go.
It's a glorious sunny day here, still bitterly cold but at least the suns out.
Lilly out for a good long walk, visit to my hairdresser later and my goddaughter is calling in on her way home from work, just my sort of day ,lovely.Of course there will be plenty of sewing this evening.
Have a good day everyone,love from me.xx
