Stormy weather

Storms across the country, but not too bad where we are.We live right in the middle of the country so only got the edge of if .Wet and windy but that's it very lucky.
Had a very productive week ,I can't show most of it because they are presents.

I started this for Christmas .
I spend such a lot of money on fabric I thought I would buy some poly cotton, its a fraction of the price.Have used it befor and wasn't keen as it's a bit slippy.I loved these colours and patterns so thought I would have another go with it
I love this large Dresden ruler.

The Dresden is 36 inch wide.I have used 5fat quarters and will repeat the order of fabrics .

Another one of these,FQS mystery BOM,this is no 5 and I predicted wrong I thought it was going to be all baskets.

Love the colours in this quilt they are so juicy.
The kids are off school this week half term hols,so I might spend a bit of time with my gorgeous grandys.
started to make my Christmas cards so that will keep me busy for a while and if the kids come over Jayda will want to get into Granny's room to make hers lol.
(Love crafting with kids)
That's me up to date.

Bryce's birthday

Just thought I would share a few pictures of last weeks birthday. This boy loved his cake.
Cutting his cake,if you could of heard the yells when he saw the sweets inside.

As you can see my two grandys are mixed race, but this kid has the brightest blue eyes you have ever seen,he melts granny's heart. The cake went down well.
He thinks it's hilarious that granny always kisses the envelope.
Jay loved the cake, she's ordered maltesers for
His PJs with his name on.
Well there you go ,my gorgeous grandchildren loved the cake and Bryce had a great birthday. His stepdad bought him a bike,He said (wow I'm lucky)
I think it's us that's lucky having such great kids.xx

One Christmas item

My Christmas item this month is a pink partridge and pear.

Last month it was blue for my grandson, this month it's pink for my granddaughter.I like these as they are quick and easy to make.

Birthday cake for Bryce

Bryce wanted a chocolate cake for his 6th Birthday,so that is what I made.

One chocolate cake baked by granny.
Cut a hole in the middle and fill with sweets ,I put a thin lid to cover the hole and covered it with chocolate fondant icing.

Chocolate fingers all round the sides and filled the top with sweets, they stick nicely to the fondant.

Some yellow green and red ribbon to tart it up a bit.

Looking at Sharon's blog gave me this idea, can't wait to see my grandsons face when he cuts it.

This is the only sewing I have managed this week,
All stitched ,only two to do now.
Will try to remember to take a photo of my gorgeous boy later when he cuts his cake.x

Turning cooler

The beginning of the week was glorious but it's starting the get a lot cooler now,the heating has been turned on.I have been sewing this week but I can't show because it's for the secret Santa swap.
Made this too.

Block four mystery BOM.Had me fooled, the first three were baskets and I thought that was going to be the theme.
Nicky would like the quilt a bit larger so I put a few scraps together and made another block.

Cut this out ready to stitch ,this is the 10th block of Summertime quilt.

Me and B went to our favourite park,Kingsbury .We bumped into Bs cousin Pam and she took our picture, that's Lilly on the edge of the photo she loves Kingsbury as she is off her Lead.

Just a few pics I took around the park,it's so beautiful there.

She's such a sweet little girl ,has to make sure we are still with her.

I have been trying my hand at Shambala bracelets

Really surprised how quick and easy these are to make. This one is for Nicky, will have to make one for Natalie now.
Last photo is my beautiful boy,all three grandys stayed over last weekend(hard work when you're an old crock like me) and this is what Junior looked like after being fed.
Drunk bless him,he's coming on a treat now,and is teething.
Have a good weekend.

Irene's quilt

At last I finished my friends quilt, been on the go for ages.

Sorry about the photos,I have a bad habit of taking pics at night.

Irene likes it.
She's had a terrible time of it lately,in and out of hospital like a yoyo,a very tough 6 years and this ones been the worst. All this when you are in your 60s and bringing up your two grandchildren well I really take my hat off to her.
This is what I have been playing with this week,Mandy's quilt.Started to think about how it will go together but I'm still collecting photos.
I decided on a jelly roll for borders.

A few more pics drying off.

The label is going on the front of the quilt.
The last photo is the friends block from SKOW if you look closely you will see Mandy and Aunty Laura embroidered down the sides.I will add a few more bits of embroidery here and there throughout the quilt.Good job it's not needed until April as I keep changing my mind.
Well that's me up to date,we had a day out Monday went to Merthyr Tydfil in Wales to see Aunty and Uncle, lunch at a lovely pub up in the mountains,my sort of day,the steak and ale pie was excellent .(did not do the diet much good though)
The apple pie with custard finished it off nicely.
